Nomination and Election of a Bishop

The South-Central Synod of Wisconsin will elect a Bishop at the 2007 Synod Assembly, held May 3-5, to serve a six-year term beginning July 1, 2007.

Eligibility

Any ordained minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in good standing is eligible. The candidate is not required to reside within the geographical boundaries for the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin.

Nominations

Any member of a South-Central Synod of Wisconsin congregation may nominate a candidate for the office of Bishop. A member may nominate only one candidate, and may not nominate himself or herself for the position.

The Process page is intended to serve as a guide in understanding the qualifications of a Bishop and the processs our synod will use in electing a person to the office.
